    The Glorious Quran Word-for-Word Translation

There are about 80,000 words in the Quran but the actual words are only around 2000!!! This could also be termed as one of the many miracles of the Quran. Accordingly, if a reader decides to learn only 10 new words every day, he can understand the basic message of the Quran within a period of seven months! So it is indeed very easy to understand the Quran, provided one is willing to learn it. This word-for-word translation may not be considered as an addition to the existing translations, but an attempt to equip the reader to understand the revelation directly from the Arabic text; thus it will Insha-Allah be a very useful tool for those who are willing to study the Quran and try to understand it. A beginner can bear in mind the meanings of each Arabic word provided right below it. Since many words are repeated in the Quran, the student will find for himself that within a few months of regular study, he is indeed able to understand the Quran through the text itself. It may also be pointed out that a beginner does not have to, in the start itself, be worried about learning extensive grammar or how to speak the Arabic language. In fact, one has to develop vocabulary before learning grammar for the following reasons: In translating the words, every effort is made to choose the English word from the existing authentic Quran translations. Among others, we have benefited from the translations of Saheeh International, Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Pickthall, Shakir, Muhammad Mohar Ali, Muhammad Asad, Muhammad Taqi- ud-din Al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan extensively   "Images may slightly differ from actual product"

The Golden Road: How Ancient India Transformed the World. William Dalrymple. Bloomsbury Publishing. 484 pages. In the proto-historic period, when the Indus civilisation was flourishing, the Sumerians recorded in detail what they were buying from India. But there are no records of what they were selling to India. The Indus civilisation had set up factory villages in multiple locations where each village specialised in manufacturing a specific set of items, which in turn were shipped to Sumeria from the Gujarat coast.

  • The History of The Four Caliphs by Shaykh Muhammad Al-Khudari Bak Al-Bajuri

The History of The Four Caliphs by Shaykh Muhammad Al-Khudari Bak Al-Bajuri

This book is a concise and immensely satisfying historical account of the first four caliphs of Islam, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, who because of their rectitude, became known as the "Rightly Guided Caliphs'' (may Allah be pleased with them). The author provides a clear and fast-paced account of the battles and internal struggles of the four caliphs, as well as that of the fifth, Hasan ibn Ali. He avoids long excursions into the technical intricacies and obscure historical detail found in longer books. However, he refreshingly puts forward a balanced and convincing analysis of the contentious issues involving the four caliphs, such as Ali ibn Abi Talibs .delay in giving the pledge, the insurgency against Uthman, the battles of the Camel and Siffin, and the disputes between Ali and Muawiya. (may Allah be pleased with them all). The author's analysis leaves the reader with a clear understanding and helps to increase the love and respect for the Prophet of Allah and his Companions. This book will surely satisfy your curiosity about the immediate period after the Prophet's (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) departure from this world. It will relieve your heart of any confusion you feel about the events of that time. This is a book written for readers of any age, hence an inspiring read for the young and old alike.

  • The Island of Missing Trees

    The Island of Missing Trees

Two teenagers, a Greek Cypriot and a Turkish Cypriot, meet at a taverna on the island they both call home. The taverna is the only place that Kostas and Defne can meet in secret, hidden beneath the blackened beams from which hang garlands of garlic and chilli peppers, creeping honeysuckle, and in the centre, growing through a cavity in the roof, a fig tree. The fig tree witnesses their hushed, happy meetings; their silent, surreptitious departures. The fig tree is there, too, when war breaks out, when the capital is reduced to ashes and rubble, when the teenagers vanish. Decades later, Kostas returns – a botanist, looking for native species – looking, really, for Defne. The two lovers return to the taverna to take a clipping from the fig tree and smuggle it into their suitcase, bound for London. Years later, the fig tree in the garden is their daughter Ada’s only knowledge of a home she has never visited, as she seeks to untangle years of secrets and silence, and find her place in the world.

The Kingdom of God Asim Khan

ISBN13: 9780860378655 Format: Paperback Publisher: Kube / Islamic Foundation No of Pages: 111 Surah al-Mulk (The Kingdom) invites the reader to look at how the universe moves by God’s will, under His perfect control, succinctly captured within its opening verse: Blessed is the One in Whose Hands rests all Kingdom. And He is Most Capable of everything. The Surah (chapter) challenges the reader to formulate a new concept of the universe and its relationship with its Creator as being like that of a kingdom with respect to a king. The reader is sent on a journey to discover a new sense of perspective on the power of God and the extent of His control over the cosmos and beyond. From this new and enlightened viewpoint, the planet and the present worldly life pales into insignificance when placed before the vastness of the seven heavens and the eternity of the Afterlife.

    The Laws of Janaazah

Death is an inevitable event which no man can escape. As such, the reality of death is something which is accepted by both the believer and disbeliever. As far as a disbeliever is concerned, he views death as a terminating point which brings an abrupt end to his existence. As for a believer, he does not consider death to be the end of life. Instead, he considers it to be the beginning of the second phase of the journey towards his ultimate abode – the Hereafter. When a person has passed away, he becomes a lifeless body in the hands of others. They do with him as they wish. However, now that he is unable to do anything for himself, it is his right upon his near and dear ones, as well as those close to him, that all his matters pertaining to his last moments of life, as well as his ghusal, kafan, burial, winding of his estate and every other aspect relating to his death and after-death, be managed and undertaken in the most perfect way – the way of the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). This book is a compilation of various laws which pertain to the person who is terminally ill, in his final illness or in his final stages, the masaa-il of ghusal, kafan, janaazah, etc. Every Muslim must equip himself with these relevant laws and masaa-il so that the correct procedure could be adopted upon the demise of any person. To neglect the laws of Deen and the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) at this critical time in a person’s journey to the Hereafter is indeed an injustice to the marhoom.

The Life and Work of Jalal ud Din Rumi

Rumi is perhaps the only example in world literature of a devoted prose writer who suddenly burst forth into poetry during middle age to become a truly great mystical poet for all time. This book, a long-overdue reckoning of his life and work, begins with a description and examination of the living conditions in 13th-century Persia. Building on this context, Afzal Iqbal proceeds to fully analyze the formative period of Rumi’s life leading up to 1261–when he began the monumental work of writing the Mathnawi. Toward the end of the book, Iqbal more generally investigates Rumi’s thought and includes translations of those portions of the Mathnawi that have been hitherto unavailable in English. Combining an unparalleled familiarity with the source material, a total and critical understanding of the subject, and a powerful and readable prose style, this is an extraordinary study of a truly remarkable poet and mystic.
