Rumi is perhaps the only example in world literature of a devoted prose writer who suddenly burst forth into poetry during middle age to become a truly great mystical poet for all time. This book, a long-overdue reckoning of his life and work, begins with a description and examination of the living conditions in 13th-century Persia. Building on this context, Afzal Iqbal proceeds to fully analyze the formative period of Rumi’s life leading up to 1261–when he began the monumental work of writing the Mathnawi. Toward the end of the book, Iqbal more generally investigates Rumi’s thought and includes translations of those portions of the Mathnawi that have been hitherto unavailable in English. Combining an unparalleled familiarity with the source material, a total and critical understanding of the subject, and a powerful and readable prose style, this is an extraordinary study of a truly remarkable poet and mystic.

Death is an inevitable event which no man can escape. As such, the reality of death is something which is accepted by both the believer and disbeliever. As far as a disbeliever is concerned, he views death as a terminating point which brings an abrupt end to his existence. As for a believer, he does not consider death to be the end of life. Instead, he considers it to be the beginning of the second phase of the journey towards his ultimate abode – the Hereafter.
When a person has passed away, he becomes a lifeless body in the hands of others. They do with him as they wish. However, now that he is unable to do anything for himself, it is his right upon his near and dear ones, as well as those close to him, that all his matters pertaining to his last moments of life, as well as his ghusal, kafan, burial, winding of his estate and every other aspect relating to his death and after-death, be managed and undertaken in the most perfect way – the way of the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
This book is a compilation of various laws which pertain to the person who is terminally ill, in his final illness or in his final stages, the masaa-il of ghusal, kafan, janaazah, etc. Every Muslim must equip himself with these relevant laws and masaa-il so that the correct procedure could be adopted upon the demise of any person.
To neglect the laws of Deen and the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) at this critical time in a person’s journey to the Hereafter is indeed an injustice to the marhoom.
Among the rights that we owe to Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) is that we love him the most, believe and accept everything that he has brought to us, and we lead our lives in total obediance and conformity to his mubaarak sunnah.
Through his mubaarak sunnah, Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) taught us how to transform out worldly affairs and activities into acts of ibaadah which will be a means of pleasing Allah (SWT) and a source of mercy to mankind. Every person needs to eat, drink, sleep, conduct business, socialize and fulfill other needs in order to exist in the world. However, through carrying out these mundane activities in accordance to the sunnah, pne will gain reward and the proximity of Allah (SWT) and His beloved Rasul (SAW).
Alhamdulillah, this kitaab has been prepared with the aim of showing people how to receive the mubaarak sunnah of Rasulullah (SAW) in all facets of their lives.
In these times of fitnah, where Deen is under constant attack, through holding onto the mubaarak sunnah, one will safeguard one's Deen and receive the reward of one hundred martyrs. Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) said, "The one who holds onto my sunnah, at a time of fitnah and fasaad, will receive the reward of one hundred martyrs."

Undoubtedly, Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) is the greatest human being and the pinnacle of Allah's (SWT) creation. it is the ultimate honour for every ummati of Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) to be linked to Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW), the Imaan of all the Ambiyaa of Allah (SWT).
Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) is the source of hidayaat (guidance) for humanity at large, for it was none other than Hazrat Rasullullah (SAW) who was chosen to show us the path of guidance through which we can earn eternal bliss and salvation. The ability to worship and recognize Allah (SWT) correctly, and simultaneously fulfil the rihts of fellow humans, also depends entirely upon emulating the teachings of Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW).
Thus, when Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) is essentially the source of good in this world and our guide to Paradise, and we are blessed to be his followers, then we can well imagine what rights he has over us and how indebted we are to him.
Among the rights that Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) has over us is that we obey him in all that he has commanded, we lead a life on conformity to his mubaarak lifestyle, and we continuously recite Durood and Salaam upon him.
Lamentably, on account of our busy schedules and preoccupation with commitments and mundane activities, we have drifted far away from Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) and lost track of our main objectives and priorities in life. In view of the present situation, the need was felt to once again rekindle the love of Hazrat Rasulullah (SAW) within our hearts, thereby enabling us to understand and follow the way of his mubaarak sunnah and reach Allah (SWT). Hence, this book titled "The Gift of Durood and Salaam" has been prepared which contains the virtues of durood and incidents regarding love for Rasulullah (SAW).

Description
Al-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya (‘The Sublime Qualities of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ’) is the most famous collection of narrations detailing the moral, physical and spiritual perfections of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Commonly referred to as ‘The Shama’il’ and compiled by the prolific Imam al-Tirmidhi, this perennial masterpiece connects hearts to the Prophet’s blessed being ﷺ.
The Shama’il generously invites us to experience the most detailed and exquisite qualities of the message-bearer—the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This knowledge fundamentally alters, informs, and orients our understanding of the Message he brought. Knowing the Shama’il is a critical pre-requisite to properly understanding Islam in general and the Prophet’s life (Sira) in particular; his beautiful appearance, lifestyle and character provide the ultimate context for developing a deep, holistic appreciation of the Message and the Messenger at the same time. Without understanding the Shama’il, we’re likely to read Islam and the Prophet’s life through the lenses of our own socially-conditioned impressions and assumptions. Instead, the Shama’il leaves a profound and indelible impression that spiritually empowers us to apply Islam to our lives.
Knowing the Shama’il is a tried and true means of filling our hearts with reverence for the Prophet ﷺ, which, in turn, fills our hearts with reverence for his Sacred Law. A form of praise in its own right, it provides a deep look into Prophet’s sublime beauty and serves as a means of connection, veneration and spiritual transformation. The Shama’il offers us tastes of delight and joy, and most importantly, engenders sincere love of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ in our hearts. To spend time with the Shama’il is to praise Allah and remember Him, for it is He who endows His beloved ﷺ with beautiful form and unparalleled character.
Translation & Notes by Abdul Aziz Suraqah & Shaykh Mohammed Aslam
The Sufi mystic and poet Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī is most beloved for his writings which represent the ecstasies and mysteries of life in all its forms—erotic, platonic divine—which are fresh and intense today as when they were first written by this medieval Persian poet and spiritual genius.
In this compact volume, Reynold Alleyne Nicholson, the renowned Islamic scholar, combines his research in Sufi doctrines and history with a rich account of the spiritual and metaphysical significance of Sufism as a living tradition. This volume reveals Rūmī’s charm and depth of thought more than in any other book.

One of the 20th century’s most influential Muslims, Malcolm X – El-Hajj Malik Al-Shabazz – led a dynamic life and passed through many phases of thought. But one aspect of his thought remained constant – to never remain silent in the face of oppression.
In Malcolm X: The Struggle for Human Rights, Recep Şentürk offers more than a biography of a beloved figure in American history: he explores the concept of universal human rights in Islam using the life of Malcolm X as an example of a human rights struggle.
Engaging and innovative, the book is divided into three sections, dealing with Malcolm X’s life, beliefs and struggle in turn. In the first part, we learn about his early years, his time in prison and his hajj. In a section on his evolving faith, we learn about his youth as a Christian, his time with the Nation of Islam and his discovery of mainstream Islam. In the final section, Şentürk offers a new perspective: how we can relate slavery, abolition, civil rights and voting rights to Malcolm X’s struggle
