REVIVING THE SUNNAH
The Mudd: A versatile object used for multiple tasks at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
UTILITIES:
It was used as a measurement tool, as a bowl, as a cup, a storage container,  a water utensil, but the best part of it is that the Prophet (SAW) supplicated to Allah Ta’ala to bless it.
"Oh Allah, Bless us in our Sa'a and in our Mudd"
Sayyiduna Safinah (May Allah be pleased with him) has narrated that the Prophet (SAW) performed ablution with a mudd of water and the purifying bath with a sa' of water. (Tirmidhi)
Just as we have litres, gallons and other containers to measure volume, the mudd, sa' etc. were units of measure used in the era of the Leader of Both Worlds (SAW).
As can be seen from the hadith mentioned above, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) used to perform ablution with a mudd full of water which in modern day measurements equates to about 775ml.
We should also try and make a habit of using the same amount for performing ablution. By doing this it will be a source of reward for practicing upon this Sunnah and also a realisation for us as to the wastage of water which currently takes place. As these vessels were used as units of measure, they are not limited to ablution but can also be used in the kitchen for measuring things such as rice or flour.
BRIEF HISTORY: Used World Wide as a Measurement Tool
The Mudd was used in Madinah  Munawwarah as a measurement until 1972.
It was also commonly used in Portugal until the XII century.
Afterwards the Portuguese king, although he kept the name, changed the quantity associated to it.
Nowadays, in Portugal Al-Mude is a measurement for liquids equivalent to approximately 25 litres.
Also from the origin of the name almudd comes the word for measurement in Portuguese "Medida".
WE INTEND TO REVIVE THE MUDD:
Our goal is to revive the Mudd of the Prophet (SAW) and acknowledge it as a multi purpose utility tool that it was historically.
Our Pieces are handmade from Ceramic and are Hand painted, with specific themes.
TEEN AND ZAITOON COLLECTION:
Our first Collection is the Fig and the Olive Collection, with four Hand Painted Mudds, two come in solid colors, pastel pink and green, and two come with an olive tree and the fig tree design
Fig inspiration:
Allah Ta'ala states in the Qur'an: 'By the Fig and the olive' (Surah Teen)
We just love the fact that this fruit is mentioned in the Qur'an, and that Allah swears by the fig, so as soon as we launched our product, we decided this would be part of the first collection.
Olive inspiration:
The olive is also mentioned in the Qur'an.  Moreover, the Prophet SAW encouraged us to use its oil by not only eating it in our food, but also by using olive oil on our bodies.
