We live in a time of complexity and uncertainty within modern life. Whilst the overuse of technology and social media has reduced human interaction in families and neighbourhoods, we have also seen an upsurge of empathy and compassion for fellow human beings during times of difficulty and crises. Positive parenting is about raising a child as a better human being and a better citizen. Our parental obligation is to help children grow into mature and confident adults with a positive character and good social and life skills. Preparing for Life is a reminder to, particularly, Muslim parents about their unique and entrusted role in preparing their children for life with universal human and Islamic values.

Review
Even though, I haven’t experienced loss of a loved one yet , I was truly humbled reading her book- her words so simple but yet so powerful and soothing . Salatu Sule includes so many verses from the Holy Quran and Hadith , that helped her through this journey of grief . The book offers faith inspired insights about grief and how to build resilience (LetsLearnMama)
Each chapter is very brief, it’s like reading a diary or a long Facebook status, filled with life lessons with relevant verses and hadith (sugarspicewhatevernice)
“One Breath at a Time” by Sister Salatu Sule is a very good read. The challenges of life, the reality, the losses and the way forward! Well written. Maa shaa Allah Tabarakallah I’d recommend it for one and all. Simple, short, well written and beneficial.

One Breath at a Time may be a teeny tiny thing, but it sure does pack a punch! A book about coping with grief and adversity. You might think you don’t need this book because you’ve never lost a loved one or been through a divorce or suffered a life-changing Illness etc, but we all go through testing times and we all try to cope with life’s happenings however we can. This book shows you how to draw on faith for strength and I particularly enjoyed the author’s references to Quranic verses at certain times in her life – it’s clear she’s built a relationship with it to connect so powerfully. We need to be able to do that! (AsmaScribendi)

Islam has been one of the most powerful religious, social, and political forces in history. Over the last 1400 years, from origins in Arabia, a succession of Muslim polities and later empires expanded to control territories and peoples that ultimately stretched from southern France, to East Africa to South East Asia. Yet many of the contributions of Muslim thinkers, scientists, and theologians, not to mention rulers, statesmen and soldiers, have been occluded.
This book rescues from oblivion and neglect some of these personalities and institutions while offering the reader a new narrative of this lost Islamic history. The Umayyads, Abbasids, and Ottomans feature in the story, as do Muslim Spain, the savannah kingdoms of West Africa and the Mughal Empire, along with the later European colonisation of Muslim lands and the development of modern nation-states in the Muslim world.
Throughout, the impact of Islamic belief on scientific advancement, social structures, and cultural development is given due prominence, and the text is complemented by portraits of key personalities, inventions and little known historical nuggets. The history of Islam and of the world's Muslims brings together diverse peoples, geographies, and states, all interwoven into one narrative that begins with Muhammad and continues to this day.

Hajj is one of the pillars and foundations of Islam, the act of worship of a lifetime, the seal of all that is commanded, the perfection of Islam and the completion of religion. Such a worship deserves that much attention to be devoted to explaining it and to detailing its essential elements, its properties, its merits, and its mysteries. This little book is translated from Kitab Asrar al-Hajj, the seventh chapter of the celebrated 12th-century work, Ihya Ulum al-Din. Al-Ghazali invites readers to dwell on the subject of the hajj beyond its mechanics and rituals, and to pay attention to its true substance, purpose and philosophy.
This beautiful presentation of the Prophet Muhammads teachings engages the reader in a moment daily reflection. With 365 traditions covering a whole year, this is a must for every home. An essential companion to the second book “Daily Wisdom: Selections from the Holy Quran”.
Unhealthy addictions and depression are widespread: some of us find the uncertainty and emotional darkness eating away at us. 700 years ago, a diligent Muslim scholar told of a cost-free, universal psychotherapeutic cure, writing: “Happiness comes with a sincere du’a.” He was Ibn Qayim Al Jawziya: his teacher was Ibn Taymiyyah . Riding on the coat-tails of our pious predecessors, we too seek routes to accepted prayers and eternal reward within the tradition of the Holy Qur’an and authentic ahadith (Prophetic sayings). This book builds on our debut A Handbook of Spiritual Medicine and isn’t simply a compilation of recommended du’as. Instead it is a carefully considered framework that aligns our emotions with the most beautiful du’as, all of which have a profound constructive purpose: the aim is to transport us smilingly and with noblest etiquette toward the ma’arifat (higher knowledge of Allah) and istiqaamah (steadfastness) that every Muslim seeks, deep down.
Deeds that light the way
So do not ask your Lord when the day of Judgment will be, but ask yourself what deeds have you prepared for that day.
In every moment of the day of Judgment, from the moment you rise from their grave to when you take your place in the assembly.
From when you are brought forth to be held accountable by your Lord, to when you are taken to the scale for the scrolls to be weighed, from when you prepare to cross the bridge to your anticipated arrival at the gates of Paradise.
There are good deeds that You have sent forth that will come to your aid. Deeds that will take you by your hand and testify on your behalf, that will settle your feet and shade you from the scorching heat. That will light your way in the darkness and guide you to the abode of eternal delight.
What are the hidden Qur’anic gems that lead to optimal faith, success, taqwa and overall health?
Allah has given us the answers. He has taught us how we eat, drink, sleep, behave and live–all to maintain perfect balance and harmony. And yet, when we disrupt Allah’s balance, we contribute to the global epidemic of lifestyle-based chronic diseases affecting our mind, body, spirit and even the planet.
The latest evidence-based research shows that when we live according to Qur’an and Sunnah, we can optimize our brain and body function, unlocking the secrets to optimal physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual health.
A love letter to Syria and its people, As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow is a speculative novel set amid the Syrian Revolution, burning with the fires of hope, love, and possibility. Perfect for fans of The Book Thief and Salt to the Sea.
Salama Kassab was a pharmacy student when the cries for freedom broke out in Syria. She still had her parents and her big brother; she still had her home. She had a normal teenager’s life.
Now Salama volunteers at a hospital in Homs, helping the wounded who flood through the doors daily. Secretly, though, she is desperate to find a way out of her beloved country before her sister-in-law, Layla, gives birth. So desperate, that she has manifested a physical embodiment of her fear in the form of her imagined companion, Khawf, who haunts her every move in an effort to keep her safe.
But even with Khawf pressing her to leave, Salama is torn between her loyalty to her country and her conviction to survive. Salama must contend with bullets and bombs, military assaults, and her shifting sense of morality before she might finally breathe free. And when she crosses paths with the boy she was supposed to meet one fateful day, she starts to doubt her resolve in leaving home at all.
Soon, Salama must learn to see the events around her for what they truly are—not a war, but a revolution—and decide how she, too, will cry for Syria’s freedom.
