The Sufi mystic and poet Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī is most beloved for his writings which represent the ecstasies and mysteries of life in all its forms—erotic, platonic divine—which are fresh and intense today as when they were first written by this medieval Persian poet and spiritual genius.

The Shama’il of Imām al-Tirmidhī is one of the most extensive and celebrated works on the description and attributes of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). Through this, a portrait of his blessed physical appearance, habits, worship, daily routine, spirituality and much more is painted by those most beloved to him: his noble companions and family members. To aid the reader in extracting the maximum beauty and wisdom from the narrations, we have carefully selected explanatory gems from over forty classical and contemporary works. Some of the scholars from whom we have taken include: Abdul Razzaq al-Badr, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalanī, Alī al-Qārī, Al-Bajūrī, Ibn Hajar al-Haytamī, Abū Bakr ibn al-‘Arabī , Al-Nawawī, Ibn al-Uthaymīn, Al-Ghazālī, Qadī ‘Iyyād, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Al-Shawkānī, Muhammad Amīn al-Shanqītī, Ibn Abdul Barr, Ibn Rajab, Al-Qastalanī, Ibn Kathīr, Abdul Rahman al-Mubarakfūrī, Abū Hafs al-Sūhrawardī, Ibn al-Jawzī, Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad, Al-Suyūtī, Hafith al-Iraqī, Al-San’anī, Ibn Battal, Nasiruddīn al-Albānī and many more. Ibn Kathīr said, “Scholars authored many titles on the depiction of the Prophet (pbuh), some of which were dedicated books and some of which were chapters in books. From the best books authored about the depiction of the Prophet (pbuh) is the book of Abū 'Īsa, Muhammad ibn 'Īsa al-Sulamī al-Tirmidhi, known as al-Shama'il” [Al -Bidaya wal Nihayah 8/385]. Abdul Razzaq al-Badr said, "This blessed book is from the best and most beneficial books written about the character and depiction of the Prophet (pbuh) and its author made it such an excellent work through his structuring of it and the hadiths he included therein. “What has he found who has lost God? And what has he lost who has found God?” – Ibn Atta Allah Al-IskandariAuthor Ahmad Javid’s book ‘Sufi Prayer and Love’ is a deeply personal and enriching discourse on prayer and love for the almighty. It explains in great detail the intimate talk you should have in your life with God, this is also known as Salat (prayer). This prayer is a separate divine language on its own and will bring you closer to the Almighty. This is the kind of book that should appeal to a lot of people because at its heart lies an intelligent discussion on prayer - the right kind of prayers and the power it gives you in life. And Muslims especially should find this book as a great guide that extols the virtue of prayer and love for Allah. Most of us do pray but when our prayers remain unanswered we often wonder where we went wrong. It doesn’t exactly teach you how to pray but it explains in great detail what a prayer should be. Through simple stories and descriptions you will understand how to communicate with God better. The book doesn’t limit itself to mere explanations of the various rituals we follow as part of our prayers, but it explains the meaning and purpose behind every word and action. It is said that you cannot teach Salat or prayer to someone as it is a personal and internal process. But the author here has managed to do just that through careful selection of texts showcased through the three parts in the book. And the Arabic recitations included in the book give off positive spiritual vibes. It makes the process of prayer an enriching experience than an event that you are simply going through the motions of.The language used is wonderful and I had no trouble in following the book. The English and the Arabic words, mostly used in brackets combine together to make this a great read. As a non Muslim myself, I appreciate the fact that I got immediate translations of words and phrases that I have often heard in relation to the Islamic faith.I don’t have any major grouses with the book, but at certain places I did wish the book had footnotes to give a more detailed history about certain items mentioned in the passages. Though the language used and the sentence structuring is contemporary, it has its own poetic feel. But if you are looking for a genuine Arabic poetic rendering, that you won’t find it here. The introduction given by the author was an honest piece of writing and my heart went out to him that he was able to make such a divine connection with the almighty. I would highly recommend this book to my Muslim brothers and sisters who think that they already know enough about their religion and faith. Reading this book should give you a different perspective and bring you in harmony with God.
Hijab: A Comprehensive Introduction. A comprehensive analysis of the various levels of hijab (female concealment), including the issue of niqab (face covering): From the Qur'an, Hadith & Fiqh.
Mufti Taqi Usmani writes: “Books on the topic of women’s veiling and unveiling have proliferated in our time. The best I have seen on the subject is a monograph by my late father, Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Shafi‘ (Allah have mercy on him), called Tafsil al-Khitab fi Ayat al-Hijab, which forms part of his Ahkam al-Qur’an. In it, he conducted a thorough examination of the verses and hadiths on the subject and elaborated on the views of the jurists and the commentaries of the exegetes about the boundaries and method of hijab. (Takmilah Fath al-Mulhim, 4:153)
This annotated translation of Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Shafi‘’s seminal work is supplemented by three appendices on the following important topics by Mufti Zameelur Rahman: women’s attendance at the masjid for prayer; travelling without a mahram; and the intermingling of genders. An extensive biography of Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Shafi‘ has also been added, drawing primarily from Hayat-i-Mufti-i-A‘zam by Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani (1936 – 2022 CE) and other reputable sources.

The Golden Road: How Ancient India Transformed the World. William Dalrymple. Bloomsbury Publishing. 484 pages.
In the proto-historic period, when the Indus civilisation was flourishing, the Sumerians recorded in detail what they were buying from India. But there are no records of what they were selling to India. The Indus civilisation had set up factory villages in multiple locations where each village specialised in manufacturing a specific set of items, which in turn were shipped to Sumeria from the Gujarat coast.
Here, in one volume: Marjane Satrapi’s best-selling, internationally acclaimed memoir-in-comic-strips.
Persepolis is the story of Satrapi’s unforgettable childhood and coming of age within a large and loving family in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution; of the contradictions between private and public life in a country plagued by political upheaval; of her high school years in Vienna facing the trials of adolescence far from her family; of her homecoming—both sweet and terrible; and, finally, of her self-imposed exile from her beloved homeland. It is the chronicle of a girlhood and adolescence at once outrageous and familiar, a young life entwined with the history of her country yet filled with the universal trials and joys of growing up.
Edgy, searingly observant, and candid, often heartbreaking but threaded throughout with raw humor and hard-earned wisdom—Persepolis is a stunning work from one of the most highly regarded, singularly talented graphic artists at work today.
