ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Habib Muhammad ibn ʿAlawi al-ʿAydarus, born in 1932 in Tarim, hailed from a distinguished lineage tracing back to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Raised in a scholarly and pious environment, he studied under numerous eminent scholars. His life was marked by dedication to Islamic knowledge and spiritual guidance, even enduring three and a half years of severe torture in prison under a socialist regime. He authored over one hundred concise and beneficial books on various Islamic topics. He returned to Allah on October 6, 2011, leaving behind a legacy of scholarship and spiritual leadership.

This book is a new translation of Imam al-Ghazali’s Adab fi al-Din, a concise yet thorough guide to proper Islamic conduct and character in a wide range of life situations. Regarding the sources of our knowledge of adab, as well as its significance in the life of a believer, the Imam writes:
The most perfect and lofty character as well as the best and most splendid of actions is to have adab [good manners] as [explained by] the religion. It is for the believer to emulate the actions of the Lord of the Worlds, as well as the character of the prophets and messengers. Allah, the most High, has refined our manners through His exposition of the Quran as well as through His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by commanding us to [adhere to] his sunna. [We owe Him] for this benevolence. He has also refined our manners through the companions, their successors, as well as the people of adab from amongst the believers, by obligating us to emulate them.

The name of Salaahuddeen al-Ayyoobi RA has been permanently recorded in the annals of world history. He was one of the greatest leaders and heroes that the world has ever seen. Ismail Ibn Katheer was a highly influential historian, exegete and scholar. He was truly an expert on tafsir (Quranic exegesis) and faqih (jurisprudence), he wrote many great books. In later life, he became blind. He attributes his blindness to working late at night on the Musnad of Ahmad Ibn Hanbal in an attempt to rearrange it topically rather than by narrator. He died in February 1373 (AH 774) in Damascus. He was buried next to his teacher. The stories of the prophets and all the events in their lives have been supported by the Qur'anic Verses and the Sunnah (traditions) of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). In this edition of the book, we have added many Quranic verses in Arabic. The Quran tells us about many of Allah's prophets. Prophet Adam is mentioned in six suras of the Quran. Allah taught Adam many things so that Adam had more knowledge than the angels. There was one Jinn, called Iblis, the Devil. Iblis tried to compare himself to Adam. He believed that he was more honorable than Adam. Therefore he abstained from prostrating even though Allah had commanded him to do so. Adam was surprised by this creature, Iblis who abhorred him without even knowing him and who imagined himself better than Adam without having proved that he was worthier. Allah gives His commissioned creatures' absolute freedom even to the extent that they can refuse His commands. Allah grants them the freedom of denial, disobedience, and even disagreement with Him. His kingdom will not diminish if the disbelievers do not believe in Him nor will it be extended if many people believe in Him.
