Ummah Heart

We welcome you to the beginning of a journey that transcends time.

The Ummah Heart Academy seeks to enrich hearts with the love of seeking knowledge. Treading upon the example of the ummahaat-ul- mu’mineen (believing mothers), we desire to establish a bond between servant and slave.

The academy is built upon the expertise of Islamic knowledge and psychology. Intertwined with these fundamentals are aspects of self-development and interaction. For verily, “He who knows himself, Knows his Lord” {Yahya bun Muaadh Arrazi R.A.}

The lessons are ones that delve into the finer intricacies of daily life,  coupled with the relevance of qur’anic and Sunnah practices. The aim is to kindle a love for not only the religion of Islam but for fellow sisters who gain knowledge beside you.

We believe in the sentiment that knowledge of the self is an imperative when it comes to understanding deen. And so we introduce a diverse range of life coaches and inspirational speakers to help in elevating levels of self-esteem, self-understanding and self-development. Also important to know our belief structure which is founded on Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama’ah and we mainly cater for the Hanafi fiqh school of thought as all our Asaatitha are qualified in this regard.

So once again, marhaba to you, and we wish that a title as lofty as ummahaat-ul- mu’mineen (believing mothers), can be something we work towards being a part of. With love in our hearts, and faith in our souls, we begin the journey of those on the path of seeking knowledge and we hope for you to be beside us.

    Many forbidden actions are such that their negative impact is generally limited to the sinner. However, failing to act upon the laws of sharee‘ah in money matters, whether in earning one’s income, claiming rights from others, distributing inheritance, etc., have the negative impact of contaminating one’s wealth. When one acquires this contaminated wealth, then naturally this contaminated wealth impacts on everything else. The contaminated wealth impacts on all the actions of the person who uses it in the course of fulfilling his ‘ibaadaat. His salaah, hajj and ‘umrah as well as charity are all devoid of reward due to the contamination of the wealth. Even his du‘aas are rejected on account of the haraam. The contaminated wealth also negatively affects all those who are fed from it. The end result is nothing but misery in this world and greater misery in the Hereafter – may Allah Ta‘ala protect us all. Therefore, utmost caution is necessary in all money matters. Especially in the world of business, due to the lack of Deeni knowledge, many basic laws are contravened, rendering the transaction impermissible. Many a person is thrilled with the massive “profit” he earned which often, due to the reality of the transaction, is nothing but interest. Such “profits” are the seeds of utter loss and total disaster, Allah Ta‘ala forbid. The purpose of this book is to gain the correct mindset of Islam in all branches of Deen, and in particular, to bring ourselves back to the true spirit and the original course of Deen in regard to earning halaal and refraining from haraam.

    Author:  Abu Hamid Al-GhazaliTranslator: Mashhad Al-AllafPublisher: White Thread PressISBN: 9781933764061Year: 2010Language: Arabic-English Parallel TextPages: 176 Complete Arabic Text with Facing English Translation Imam Ghazali’s Bidayat al-Hidaya is a highly motivational manual detailing the fundamentals of acquiring guidance through God-consciousness (taqwa). Imam Ghazali argues that just as there is an end to this noble objective there is also a beginning to it, which must be made firm for one to achieve success. He then goes on to expound the fundamentals of this “beginning.” While being concise and to-the-point the manual is laid out in the form of a detailed daily timetable providing the reader strong inspiration and much heart-rending counsel. The three sections of this book are on obedience, refraining from disobedience, and the etiquette of companionship with the Creator and with creation. One of Imām Ghazālī’s final works, it embodies a lifetime of learning, experience, and spirituality and can be taken as an introduction to his larger works.   This translation published for the first time with facing Arabic text also includes many notes and transliteration for the supplications contained within. “An excellent translation of an important book on the fundamentals of Muslim piety and etiquette. With an accessible English translation alongside the original Arabic text, this introductory work will be useful for readers interested in exploring the realities of Islamic piety, students of Arabic and educators alike.” Jonathan brown University of Washington Dr. Mashhad Al-Allaf holds a doctoral degree in Modern Philosophy: Science & Metaphysics (1995). His bachelor’s and master’s degrees concentrated on the Philosophy of Science. Sea Without Shore is a practical manual for those travelling the path of Sufism or Islamic mysticism, which strives, in Junayd’s words, “to separate the Beginninglessly Eternal from that which originates in time,” in a word, to be with the Divine without any relation. The book opens with narratives of five Sufis met by the author in Syria, Jordan, and Turkey whose lives exemplified the knowledge and practice of the Sufi path. The second part is a complete handbook of the method and rule of the Shadhili order of Sufism, transmitted to the author by his spiritual mentor, Sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Shaghouri–from devotions, dhikr or ‘invocation,’ and metaphysical doctrine, to how a Sufi lives, marries, and earns a living in the modern world. A third part treats wider theological questions such as other faiths and mysticisms, universalism and the finality of Islam, the promise of God to Jews and Christians, evolution and religion, and divine Wisdom and Justice in the face of human suffering. The book provides an indelible portrait of a vibrant mystical tradition spanning seven and a half centuries of endeavor to know the Divine face-to-face. Sheikh Nuh Keller was born in the US in 1954. He read philosophy and classical Arabic at the University of Chicago and UCLA, and became a Muslim in Cairo in 1977. He was authorized as a sheikh in the Shadhili order by Sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahman in 1996 and is the leading authority on traditional Islam in the West. He has studied jurisprudence, hadith, and other subjects with traditional scholars, produced Reliance of the Traveller, the 1st translation of a standard Islamic legal reference in a English to be certified by al-Azhar, the Muslim world’s oldest institution of higher learning. Among his other works and translations are Sufism in Islam, al-Maqasid: Imam Nawawi’s Manual of Islam, Port in a Storm, and an illuminated calligraphic edition of Dala’il al-Khayrat

    The Laws of Janaazah

    Death is an inevitable event which no man can escape. As such, the reality of death is something which is accepted by both the believer and disbeliever. As far as a disbeliever is concerned, he views death as a terminating point which brings an abrupt end to his existence. As for a believer, he does not consider death to be the end of life. Instead, he considers it to be the beginning of the second phase of the journey towards his ultimate abode – the Hereafter. When a person has passed away, he becomes a lifeless body in the hands of others. They do with him as they wish. However, now that he is unable to do anything for himself, it is his right upon his near and dear ones, as well as those close to him, that all his matters pertaining to his last moments of life, as well as his ghusal, kafan, burial, winding of his estate and every other aspect relating to his death and after-death, be managed and undertaken in the most perfect way – the way of the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). This book is a compilation of various laws which pertain to the person who is terminally ill, in his final illness or in his final stages, the masaa-il of ghusal, kafan, janaazah, etc. Every Muslim must equip himself with these relevant laws and masaa-il so that the correct procedure could be adopted upon the demise of any person. To neglect the laws of Deen and the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) at this critical time in a person’s journey to the Hereafter is indeed an injustice to the marhoom.

    Ismail Ibn Katheer was a highly influential historian, exegete and scholar. He was truly an expert on tafsir (Quranic exegesis) and faqih (jurisprudence), he wrote many great books. In later life, he became blind. He attributes his blindness to working late at night on the Musnad of Ahmad Ibn Hanbal in an attempt to rearrange it topically rather than by narrator. He died in February 1373 (AH 774) in Damascus. He was buried next to his teacher. The stories of the prophets and all the events in their lives have been supported by the Qur'anic Verses and the Sunnah (traditions) of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). In this edition of the book, we have added many Quranic verses in Arabic. The Quran tells us about many of Allah's prophets. Prophet Adam is mentioned in six suras of the Quran. Allah taught Adam many things so that Adam had more knowledge than the angels. There was one Jinn, called Iblis, the Devil. Iblis tried to compare himself to Adam. He believed that he was more honorable than Adam. Therefore he abstained from prostrating even though Allah had commanded him to do so. Adam was surprised by this creature, Iblis who abhorred him without even knowing him and who imagined himself better than Adam without having proved that he was worthier. Allah gives His commissioned creatures' absolute freedom even to the extent that they can refuse His commands. Allah grants them the freedom of denial, disobedience, and even disagreement with Him. His kingdom will not diminish if the disbelievers do not believe in Him nor will it be extended if many people believe in Him. Al-Quds is not merely a physical location; it symbolizes our faith and is a site of immense barakah, as affirmed by the Qur'ān and Sunnah. These hadiths remind us of the profound spiritual significance of al-Masjid al-Aqsã and its central role in our eschatological beliefs. Shaykh Dr Fathi's meticulous compilation reflects the Islamic tradition of assembling collections of forty, symbolizing completeness and spiritual fulfillment. This work connects the ummah to the timeless virtues of al-Quds in an intellectually rigorous and spiritually enriching manner.
